This academic year, 865 new students have joined the community of the Faculty of Medicine and our University. - Your choice to study at our university in order to pursue your dream of becoming a doctor is a great responsibility for us. I promise that we will not let you down — we will support you and work together for your success - said Professor Paweł Włodarski, Dean of the Medical Faculty, as he opened the ceremony.
This academic year, the community of the Faculty of Medicine at our University has welcomed 865 new students. Professor Paweł Włodarski, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, opened the ceremony by saying: “The fact that you have chosen our university to pursue your dream of being a doctor, means that we have an obligation towards you, and I promise that we will not disappoint you; we will support you and work together with you to help you succeed.”
The ceremonial inauguration and symbolic opening of the 2025/2026 academic year are now behind us. Together with our academic community, including newly admitted students, a group of distinguished guests celebrated the occasion.
On October 1, the Study of Health Psychology WUM celebrates its anniversary. Few people know that this department was the first in Poland to teach psychology at a medical university. What else can the Study of Health Psychology surprise us with?
Five outstanding scientists from the Medical University of Warsaw were awarded the title of professor.
The third project, resulting from cooperation between our university and the Capital City of Warsaw as part of the global Partnership for Healthy Cities, to which the capital belongs, has been launched. Now, our scientists, supported by experts from other Warsaw universities, will work on a unified methodology for reporting air quality in the city. The methodology will allow for more effective management of urban health policy and a better understanding of the relationship between the environment and the health of Warsaw residents.
Changes to the local development plan will allow for expanding the clinical and educational infrastructure of our university. The planned projects include building a modern hospital.
The 28th “Run for a New Life” is done and dusted. About 100 four-people relay teams took part in it. The teams consisted of transplant recipients, family donors, youth, athletes, journalists, actors, and medics – including our specialists. Each of them, equipped with Nordic walking poles, covered the symbolic 1 kilometer along the alleys of the Museum of King Jan III’s Palace in Wilanów. All with the aim of expressing support for the idea of organ donation.
Candidates interested in our university could choose from 16 degree courses. Full-time studies in medicine in Polish attracted 3401 candidates, with only 550 places available. There were 1919 candidates for first-cycle nursing studies, with 420 places available. Full-time studies in dentistry in Polish attracted nearly 10 candidates per place. And those are not the only degree courses from our offering that were very popular during this year’s admissions campaign.
