Being included in the World University Rankings is a distinction in itself, as it lists only the leading higher education institutions. This ranking is now regarded as even more prestigious than the so-called Shanghai Ranking. It serves as an invaluable source of information for researchers, university authorities, students, as well as governments and the business community.
The ranking evaluates universities based on their core missions: teaching, research, technology transfer, and international outlook. The classification relies on five criteria: teaching, research environment, research quality, international outlook, and industry.
For the fourth consecutive year, WUM has maintained its position in the 1001–1200 group. This year, it received its highest scores in research quality (52.2%) and industry (48.8%). It is worth noting that WUM achieved its best results since 2021 in three categories: research quality, international outlook, and industry. Compared to last year, the University also improved its teaching score from 27.7% to 28.7%.
It is also worth noting that in the World University Rankings by Subject 2025: Medical and Health, our University achieved a strong position in the 601–800 range. The ranking included 1,150 institutions from 102 countries, evaluated based on 18 rigorous indicators.
This year’s edition of the World University Rankings included 42 Polish universities. Alongside WUM in the 1001–1200 group are five other universities: Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, AGH University of Kraków, Gdańsk University of Technology, Medical University of Gdańsk, and Silesian University of Technology. Only four Polish universities were classified in higher ranges.
