On June 24 we were able to participate in an amazing musical and charity event “Artists for Transplantation - Leave Your Heart on Earth”. Kayah, Natalia Szroeder, Dawid Kwiatkowski, Grubson, Tomasz Organek, Nita, the band Bios and the band HLA4TRANSPLANT sang on stage at the COS Torwar hall. All this to promote the idea of organ transplantation and raise funds for the unique heart transport equipment known as “Heart in the Box.” This was not just a concert, but proof that music unites people who together can change the world!
They come from different corners of the world, speak different languages, represent different cultures, and traditions. But six years ago, they all made the same decision — to study medicine at the Medical University of Warsaw. That choice brought them together. On Friday, June 27, their shared journey came to an end. On that day, 119 graduates of the English Division Class of 2025 received their diplomas from the hands of the university's deans and rectoral authorities during a ceremony at the National Philharmonic in Warsaw.
“Rising stars of Polish medicine” these are the fifth- and sixth-year medical students from all over Poland who can boast outstanding achievements with their performance, involvement in scientific, as well as social, including academic, activities. They are identified by the jury of the Supertalents in Medicine 2025 competition. Among this year's 10 winners, as many as five are students from our university.
The top ten awardees in this year's edition of the “Puls Medycyny” competition were: Prof. Krzysztof Ozierański, Jarosław Biliński, MD, PhD, Monika Gawałko, MD, PhD, and Mateusz Zawadka, MD, PhD. They were recognized for changing Polish medicine for the better with their knowledge, commitment and passion.
The department includes two advanced hemodynamic rooms and 15 patient beds, including six cardiac intensive care units. It has been equipped with state-of-the-art angiographs, integrated imaging, monitoring and data archiving systems, making it possible to perform even the most complex percutaneous procedures – also with the use of circulatory support. This is a new chapter in the treatment and research of heart disease not only at our university, but also in the whole country!
The ceremonial presentation of the nominations by the President of Poland took place on June 24. Among the academic teachers and researchers in the field of science and art who received the acts from the hands of Andrzej Duda on that day were: Prof. Justyna Domienik-Karłowicz, Prof. Krzysztof Ozierański and Prof. Adam Przybyłkowski.
Another edition of the MUW Patronage Program prepared by the Communication and Promotion Office has ended. Its culmination was the lecture “The power of Generation Z: how the young shape a healthy future” delivered by Lena Serafin, MD, PhD, from the Department of Clinical Nursing. The meeting was attended by students from the Władysław IV High School in Warsaw.
The Medical University of Warsaw’s scientific journal “Prospects in Pharmaceutical Sciences” has been re-indexed in the Journal Citation Reports database known in Poland as the “Philadelphia list.”
Aleksandra Frankowska, a fifth-year student of the English Division of the Faculty of Medicine MUW, was among an elite group of six people selected for the Student Ambassador Program, which is affiliated with the World Transplant Congress.
50 years ago they received their diplomas and began not easy, but beautiful path of helping and caring for others. And on June 13, within the walls of MUW, they met at a diploma renewal ceremony to celebrate this wonderful anniversary in the company of the rector's and dean's authorities.
