Who are the best young researchers at the Faculty of Pharmacy?
The 11th Mini-Symposium of Young Scientists has concluded. This year, a record 43 participants presented their work. The jury distinguished four of them, although all participants undoubtedly deserve recognition as outstanding young researchers of the faculty.

Our researcher has been appointed National Representative for Poland on the ESICM Council
Mateusz Zawadka, MD, PhD, from the 2nd Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care will represent the Polish community, support cooperation between national and European centers and participate in shaping the scientific and educational policy of the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine (ESICM).

A solid dose of knowledge on medical emergency
This was made possible thanks to the third scientific conference “Sapere Aude – dare to be wise: Students to Students about Medical Emergency” at WUM. The topics covered were diverse and highly engaging. Attendance was also high, with students from universities, academies, and vocational schools across Poland, including Łódź, Katowice, Kielce, and Opole.

Science: How to support medical students and professionals in addressing online threats
Cybersecurity in healthcare today is not only a matter of technology, but also of the everyday decisions made by healthcare personnel. Our university, together with partners from Czechia, France, Greece, Italy, Malta, and Portugal, is carrying out the project “Securing Health & social care Institutions resilience to cybercrimes through Empowerment Literacy and Digital skills of the workforce and students” (SHIELD for short). SHIELD aims to strengthen the resilience of the healthcare system by developing digital competencies and fostering safe habits among medical students and healthcare professionals.

Outstanding Belgian infectious disease specialist visits WUM
Our university hosted an outstanding infectious disease specialist, Prof. Dimitri van der Linden from Belgium, one of the founders of the Munda initiative. The organization is carrying out the ambitious Njilabo project, whose goal is to establish a high-performance microbiology laboratory in Mbujimayi in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Prof. van der Linden visited the Department of Social Medicine and Public Health at WUM and delivered an inspiring seminar for medical students.

What do employers expect and how does it influence the curriculum of medical studies?
On May 11, 2026, a meeting was held between the Dean's Council of the Medical Faculty of the WUM and the Employers' Convention. The discussion focused on what the job market expects from medical students and how this influences the development of a modern curriculum.

On the Polish Midwife's Day, a monument to Stanisława Leszczyńska – the patron of all midwives – was unveiled at Karowa Hospital. The event drew crowds of Warsaw residents.

Digital education for future nurses
Our university, together with the Medical University of Łódź and the Medical University of Gdańsk, is implementing the E4N.EU – NursingOntos (PORTO) project, which changes the way nurses are educated, making it even more practical. The coordinator on behalf of WUM is Dr. hab. Lena Serafin from the Department of Clinical Nursing.

How should you plan your career after earning a PhD? These were just some of the many questions raised during the PhD Pathways meeting organized by the Doctoral Students’ Self-Government of WUM.

Our students among the laureates of the Student Pharmaceutical Care Competition
Oliwia Popławska and Jan Wójkowski from the Faculty of Pharmacy took second place in the competition! They had to demonstrate not only extensive knowledge, but also soft skills: the ability to communicate with patients and work as a team.
