Our expert in the skills policy team

Artur Białoszewski from the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics was appointed by the Marshal of the Mazowieckie Voivodeship as a member of the Regional Coordination Team for the Skills Policy of the Mazowieckie Voivodeship (WZK).

The team is an advisory body of the voivodeship board and coordinates vocational education, training and lifelong learning of children, adolescents and adults. The team advises on creating and updating the voivodeship development strategy – especiallly in the area of skills. It also assesses what competences are needed in the region – whether there is a demand in the labor market, and helps align education and the actions of regional authorities with that demand.

What are the most important competency deficits in the region today?

"A double gap constitutes the most important challenge today: a regional shortage of specialized medical personnel and the insufficient pace at which competences are adapted to digitization and the growing needs of an aging population," explains Artur Białoszewski. He also adds: "It is essential to systematically develop skills in data analysis, telemedicine, remote diagnostics and the safe use of artificial intelligence, while simultaneously building competence in coordinated care, geriatric care, long-term care and care for multimorbid patients."

As the newly appointed team member emphasizes, WZK may translate such diagnoses into consistent recommendations regarding education, professional development and the planning of demand for medical specialties and training positions, bringing together universities, healthcare providers and local government to better align the workforce and services with the needs of Mazovia's residents.
