“Sweet Dreams” – a concert full of hits and positive energy
That was the title of this year’s concert, inspired by one of the songs by the Eurythmics, which was also performed during the show. The choir performed songs by well-known and well-liked artists, including Billie Eilish, Coldplay, Billy Joel, Ed Sheeran, and OneRepublic. It was the latter band’s song, “Run,” that became the biggest hit of the evening, getting the audience to clap along.
The performance was received very warmly and rewarded with enthusiastic applause. For the encore, the choir performed “Lean on Me” by Bill Withers and“Unwritten” by Natasha Bedingfield.
An exceptional repertoire, the result of months of work
For this event, the choir had been rehearsing since early October, meeting twice a week for rehearsals and also taking part in individual voice production sessions. This was complemented by two away music workshops. All this time and effort resulted in an excellent performance that confirmed the versatility and stage commitment of our choir.
From carol concerts to academic ceremonies
In addition to preparing for the concert, the ensemble also worked on a Christmas carol program, which was performed several times in churches in Warsaw. It also rehearsed pieces that were performed multiple times during university ceremonies, including inaugurations, matriculations, and graduation ceremonies.
The “Sweet Dreams” concert took place on June 21 at the music school on Tyszkiewicza Street. The event was well attended, including representatives of WUM: Prof. Agnieszka Cudnoch-Jędrzejewska, Vice-Rector for Clinical Affairs and Investments; Prof. Paweł Włodarski, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine; Dr. hab. Jacek Sieńko, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Medicine for Student Affairs (English Division); as well as members of the chancellery administration: Dr. Marta Kijak-Bloch and Jarosław Prugar, MA.
