In the atest scientific article, Dr. Marek Konop from the Department of Experimental Physiology and Pathophysiology at the Medical University of Warsaw, writes about his research, which focuses on developing a biomaterial that combines keratin and sericin to promote tissue regeneration and reduce inflammation in patients with diabetes.

Our university hosted the Forum for the Exchange of Experiences of Medical Universities devoted to the development, security and effective management of the infrastructure of academic campuses. The event was attended by specialists responsible for shaping modern and safe spaces for learning, working and research.

Prof. Dagmara Mirowska-Guzel, head of the Department of Experimental and Clinical Pharmacology, has become a member of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education’s advisory team for projects submitted under the “Science for Society,” “Science for Society II,” and “Science for Social Development” programs.

A practical training session on how to evacuate and provide assistance to people with disabilities took place at the Center for Medical Simulation WUM. It was led by Florian's Angels Fire Brigade.

The list of the world’s best universities was compiled by Research.com. WUM was classified in three disciplines: Microbiology, Medicine, as well as Biology and Biochemistry.

The AMEE Conference is one of the world’s leading events dedicated to medical education. This year, it was held in Vienna. Representatives of the Medical University of Warsaw (WUM) included Prof. Paweł Włodarski, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine; Prof. Aneta Nitsch-Osuch, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine for Educational Programs and Quality; Dr. Olga Rostkowska from the Department and Clinic of Transplantology, Immunology, Nephrology and Internal Medicine, who chaired the AMEE Humanities Committee 2026; and Milena Witkowska, a student at our university.

A team of interventional cardiologists from the Children’s Clinical Hospital of the University Clinical Center of WUM has successfully performed additional percutaneous pulmonary valve implantation procedures. The interventions were carried out on two pediatric patients with severe pulmonary valve regurgitation who had previously undergone cardiac surgery.

Experts representing the medical, scientific, legal, and public sectors took part in the “Zero Tolerance for Misinformation in Medicine!” conference. They unanimously stressed that preventing the spread of pseudoscientific content and unproven treatment methods is currently one of the key conditions for ensuring patient safety. The Medical University of Warsaw was the honorary patron of the event.

Adam Bujanowicz, MD, a PhD student at the WUM Doctoral School and vice-chair of the WUM PhD Student Government, was elected 2nd Vice-Chair of the Doctoral Forum of Medical Universities (DFUM) for the 2026-2027 term. The Forum represents PhD students from medical universities across Poland, supporting their development and helping to create solutions for the academic community.

August 23 marks the European Day of Remembrance for Victims of Totalitarian and Authoritarian Regimes. On this occasion, the European Network for Remembrance and Solidarity organizes a public awareness and educational campaign titled “Remember. August 23.” Each year, the campaign highlights the story of a person who, despite risking their own life, dared to stand up to totalitarian evil. This year’s heroine is Stefania Perzanowska, a doctor and graduate of the Faculty of Medicine in Warsaw, who was deported to the Nazi German concentration camp at Majdanek, where - without equipment, medicine, or sanitary conditions - she organized a hospital for female prisoners.
