WUM receiving nearly 34 million in funding from the Medical Research Agency (ABM)
ABM published a list of projects recommended for funding in the second round of a competition for head-to-head research in the field of non-commercial clinical trials or research experiments. Four of these were developed by WUM researchers. This is the highest number of all the institutions that received funding in this round. The projects are dedicated to the fields of pediatrics, liver surgery and nuclear medicine.
How we celebrated the World Prematurity Day
Around 15 million infants are born prematurely worldwide each year, and about 22 thousand such babies are born in Poland. The World Prematurity Day, on November 17, is their special day. For this occasion, the WUM Medical University of Warsaw neonatology departments were decorated in purple, and special meetings and education workshops were held there. The Neonatology and Infant Intensive Care Clinical Department at the Karowa Hospital was visited by Agata Kornhauser-Duda, the First Lady of the Republic of Poland.
Diplomas for Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry graduates
The diploma ceremony on November 15 was attended by this year’s graduates in the following fields: Medicine and Dentistry; Dentistry Techniques; and Dental Hygiene. Now, after making the pledge and oath, these 128 perfectly educated young people can start pursuing their professional dreams.

The most important event dedicated to the role of the European Union in the region’s development, i.e. the 13th Mazovia Development Forum, has just ended. There were 15 debates attended by more than 70 experts, including academics from our university. We had our stand as a school at the Forum. It was serviced by experts and students from WUM Medical University of Warsaw.

Prof. Robert Galązkowski, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Head of the Department of Emergency Medical Services MUW and Director of the Polish Medical Air Rescue, received the Knight's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta, while Dr. Marcin Podgórski of the Department of Emergency Medical Services, Deputy Director of Emergency Medical Services, Organization and Planning , received the Medal for Sacrifice and Courage. Jacek Siewiera, Head of the National Security Bureau, presented the medals on behalf of Polish President Andrzej Duda.

On Saturday, October 28, 28 managers received their graduation diplomas in the fourth edition of this acclaimed program. They were celebrating their great success in the presence of professor Zbigniew Gaciong, Rector of WUM Medical University of Warsaw, professor Piotr Wachowiak, Rector of SGH Warsaw School of Economics, and professor Maciej Słodkowski, director of WUM Postgraduate Training Center.

The production site was opened on October 12 at the Świętokrzyskie Oncology Center in Kielce. It will be working for the purposes of the “Polish Chimeric Antigen Receptor T-cell Network” (CAR-NET) with WUM as leader. The objective of the project is to develop a Polish CAR-T therapy. It would be a chance for effective treatment for acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) and diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) patients.
