A team of scientists led by Dr. Marek Karwacki from the Chair and Department of Pediatric Oncology, Hematology and Transplantology at the UCC MUW will lead a project aimed at finding an effective therapy to reduce the disability and suffering of children with neurofibromatosis type 2 (NF-2). In the clinical trial, researchers will test the efficacy and safety of Crizotinib treatment.
The rectors of the 10 Polish universities ranked in the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) received a congratulatory letter from the Minister of Science and Higher Education, Przemyslaw Czarnek, in which he thanked them "for their current commitment and effort in striving for the best results of the University." Among the addressees of the letter is Prof. Zbigniew Gaciong - Rector of our University, which in this year's ranking of 1000 best universities has improved its position: it moved up two groups in relation to last year, it was also best rated among Polish medical universities.
To fill the knowledge gap regarding the efficacy and safety of pharmacotherapy during breastfeeding, a team of our researchers will be conducting a project using tools to assess potential adverse effects after COVID-19 vaccination during lactation.
Our researchers, through the National Agency for Academic Exchange intervention grants, will be involved in the scientific work on understanding the immunology and management of pediatric multisystem inflammatory syndrome associated with coronavirus infection (PIMS/MIS-C).
The Medical University of Warsaw has improved its position in the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), known as the "Shanghai Ranking," taking place from 701 to 800 in this year's ranking. Our university thus move up two groups from last year. MUW was also best rated among Polish medical universities.

On 3 August 2021, Prof. Zbigniew Gaciong, the Rector of the Medical University of Warsaw, and Prof. Maciej Krawczyk, the President of the National Council of Physiotherapists, signed a letter of intent concerning the will of cooperation for the development of professional education of physiotherapists.
The experimental research project of the consortium led by MUW scientists concerning the treatment of this malignant tumor will receive funding from the Medical Research Agency Competition.
Our University received grants from the Ministry of Education and Science for the purchase of equipment to study changes in the skin and a new generation ultrasound machine for volumetric blood flow measurement in the arteries of the central nervous system.

The meeting, held on July 15, 2021, was hosted by the Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences Mariusz Gujski, MD, PhD.
