On 24th of May this year, the students associated in the IFMSA-Poland Warsaw organized a blood donation campaign "Stream of Life".
The preliminaries for the 10th edition of "From Youngster to Olympian" the National Swimming Competition for children organized by AZS Warsaw with the support of the Ministry of Culture, National Heritage and Sport as well as the City of Warsaw took place on 22 May 2021, under the patronage of the Rector of the Medical University of Warsaw, Professor Zbigniew Gaciong, at the Sports and Rehabilitation Centre MUW.
As many as 7 projects prepared by the Students’ Scientific Circles operating at our University will be funded under the "Students' Scientific Circles Create Innovations" program of the Ministry of Education and Science. The total amount of funding, which our Scientific Circles will receive is 386 553 PLN.
On the 6th of May this year the Presidium of the Polish Accreditation Committee issued a positive program evaluation of the physiotherapy major at the Medical University of Warsaw. It will be in effect for the next 6 years.
On May 14, 2021, a handover of a car for transplant coordinators took place at the Department of General and Transplantation Surgery of the Infant Jesus Clinical Hospital UCC MUW. The meeting was attended by the Rector of the MUW, Prof. Zbigniew Gaciong, the Head of the Department, Prof. Maciej Kosieradzki, the representative of the donor, the Development Director of the WhyNot Travel Group, Mrs Katarzyna Domagała, Piotr Domagała, MD, PhD, and the transplant coordinators: Edyta Karpeta, MA, and Mr Łukasz Górski, MA.
On May 15, 2021 in the Prof. Janusz Piekarczyk Lecture Hall, the graduation ceremony of the Masters of Pharmacy and Masters of Medical Analytics of the Faculty of Pharmacy MUW took place. The ceremony was attended by the Rector of MUW, prof. Zbigniew Gaciong.
Pediatric cardiology remains dormant in the context of emerging artificial intelligence systems, and it is one of the specialties that can benefit most from new technological developments. There are no solutions in which artificial intelligence algorithms would be designed to analyze long-term ECG recordings in children.
We encourage you to attend the lecture, which will be given by Professor Peter Sicinski, pathologist and molecular biologist from Harvard Medical School (Department of Cancer Biology, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute) on May 19 at 4 pm. The meeting, conducted in English, will focus on the latest achievements in the development of new anti-cancer treatments.
In this year's CWUR - The Center for World University Rankings, Medical University of Warsaw was ranked the highest among domestic medical universities. With an overall score of 70.6, MUW took 943rd place in the general classification and ranked 9th among 40 Polish universities.
On May 10, the Minister of Health appointed the National Council for Cardiology - a consultative and advisory body with the following tasks: participation in the development of the draft of the National Program of Cardiovascular Diseases and monitoring its implementation, as well as improving the coordination and efficiency of the cardiac care. The Council was joined by Professor Piotr Pruszczyk - Vice-Rector for Science and Technology Transfer of our University, Head of the Department of Internal Medicine and Cardiology with the Center for Management of Venous Thromboembolic Disease MUW.
