Dr. Krzysztof Bartnik from the 2nd Department of Clinical Radiology, together with researchers from the Warsaw University of Technology and Duke University in the USA, has just launched a project aimed at creating prognostic models to help physicians better assess therapy effectiveness and make treatment more personalized.

Our University Clinical Center (UCK WUM) has received nearly PLN 2 million for the purchase of modern equipment for pathomorphological diagnostics. The funds will streamline diagnostic processes and enable faster implementation of treatment for oncology patients. UCK WUM has also obtained nearly PLN 23 million for digital transformation, which will improve data security, the efficiency of medical teams, and the quality of patient care.

The National Science Centre has awarded grants for innovative initial or pilot research to Piotr Alster, PhD Hab., from the Department of Neurology at the Faculty of Health Sciences, and Cezary Maciejewski, MD PhD, from the 1st Chair and Department of Cardiology. Type II diabetes is a disease that often leads to diabetic foot syndrome and characteristic chronic wounds. It is one of the most dangerous complications of diabetes, often leading to limb amputation and increasing the risk of serious infections. Unfortunately, the incidence of diabetes continues to rise, and the available methods of treating wounds in patients often prove insufficient. Therefore, the search for new, bioactive dressings that could be used in the treatment of chronic wounds in this condition is extremely necessary and important.

Our specialists have performed the first transcatheter mitral valve implantation procedures in Poland, which were also among the first in Europe, using a new system. This opens new therapeutic perspectives for a large group of symptomatic patients who, due to clinical and anatomical limitations, could not previously be effectively treated.
