Our specialists are Polish leaders in minimally invasive liver surgeries
In March for the first time in Poland, a team of surgeons from the Department of General, Transplant and Liver Surgery at UCC MUW performed the laparoscopic extended right hemihepatectomy after previous radiological venous vessels occlusion. Surgery to remove 70% of the liver parenchyma was performed in a patient with advanced intrahepatic bile duct cancer. Due to the surgical technique used, the patient was discharged home in good condition just 7 days after this complicated procedure.

Four projects implemented by students of the Faculty of Medicine of the Medical University of Warsaw will receive funding from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education under the initiative "The best of the best! 4.0."

The team from the Department of Education and Research in Health Sciences of the Faculty of Medical Sciences received funding from the National Agency for Academic Exchange for the project entitled " VACCINATION WITHOUT HESITATION"! Developing social media-based guidelines for a campaign to encourage nursing students to receive the COVID-19 vaccine as one of the key methods to stop the pandemic.

The National Scientific and Training Conference "Interdisciplinary Dimensions of Health and Illness" was held on June 24-25. The event was organized by the following departments of the Faculty of Health Sciences of MUW: Department of Development of Nursing and Social and Medical Sciences, Department of Health Economics and Medical Law, Department of Nursing Development of the Medical University of Lublin and the Warsaw District Chamber of Nurses and Midwives. The meeting, hosted by Tomasz Kryczka, MD, PhD - Head of the Department of Development of Nursing and Social and Medical Sciences, was opened by Prof. Paweł Włodarski, Vice Rector for International Relations, Development and Promotion of the MUW, Mariusz Gujski, MD, PhD - Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences of the MUW, and Mariusz Wysokiński, MD, PhD - Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences of the Medical University of Lublin.
Another orthopedic cadaver workshops
On June 16, another cadaver course for orthopedic surgeons was held at the Department of Pathomorphology MUW.
Prof. Piotr Skarżyński
Professor Piotr H. Skarżyński from the Division of Heart Failure and Cardiac Rehabilitation has been appointed to two committees of the American Scientific Society– American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery in 2021–2022 terms: Implantable Hearing Devices Committee and Otology & Neurotology Education Committee. Prof. Piotr H. Skarżyński is the only Polish member in the AAO-HNS committees.

Dr. Natalia Czaplinska, Assistant Professor at the Department of Neonatology, UCC MUW and Dr. Katarzyna Bocian, Associate Professor at the Department of Immunology, Faculty of Biology, University of Warsaw received funding in the form of a micro-grant for the implementation of the project entitled "Investigating the usefulness of new laboratory markers for predicting the onset and the course of Necrotizing Enterocolitis".

Three scientists from the Medical University of Warsaw will receive prestigious scientific scholarships from the Foundation for Polish Science – START program. Among the 100 distinguished young researchers were: Paweł Matryba - a PhD student in the Department of Immunology at UCC MUW, Victor Murcia Pienkowski - a PhD student in the Department of Medical Genetics and Dr Kajetan Grodecki associated with the 1st Chair and Department of Cardiology at UCC MUW.
