"Złota Kukułka" for a paper on the rare HLH syndrome
The MUW Rector's special award for papers most cited in the world literature went to Dr. Rafał Machowicz from the Chair and Department of Hematology, Transplantation and Internal Medicine UCC MUW. The paper titled: "Similar but not the same: Differential diagnosis of HLH and sepsis", dedicated to the differentiation of HLH and sepsis, according to the Web of Science database - was cited 79 times.

This is the first such procedure at the MUW. It was carried out by Professor Mariusz Kuśmierczyk with a team of cardiosurgeons. A modern Heartmate 3 device was implanted.

MUW specialists helped Ukrainian soldiers
Prof. Kazimierz Niemczyk and Dr. Robert Bartoszewicz from the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery UCC MUW have performed four middle ear reconstruction surgeries on soldiers wounded in combat in Ukraine. The procedures were performed on September 13 at the department of otorhinolaryngology in Lviv.
MUW specialists marched in support of Polish transplantology
On Saturday, September 10, more than 80 relay teams competed in the 21st edition of the "Run for New Life." The initiative supports national transplantation, spreading the idea of conscious organ donation among Polish people. The relay teams were made up of transplant patients and representatives of transplant medicine, journalists, athletes, actors. Among them could not miss specialists from our university.

The Ministry of Education and Science, together with the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and the Polish Center for International Assistance, has launched a special information helpline for Ukrainian schoolkids, students as well as their families and caregivers.
Medical sciences graduates
On Monday, August 29, 143 master's degree holders and 76 bachelor's degree holders celebrated their graduation from the Faculty of Medical Sciences MUW. - Remember the thought of Plato, who reportedly used to say "The beginning is the most important part of the work." And that's the beginning you've just made - said Dariusz Białoszewski, MD, PhD, MUW Professor, Dean of the Faculty to the graduates of Physiotherapy, Electroradiology, Audiophonology with hearing prosthetics, as well as General and Clinical Speech Therapy during the graduation ceremony.
First heart transplantations at the UCC MUW  
A 16-year-old patient with severe depressed cardiac function was admitted to the University Clinical Center of the Medical University of Warsaw (UCC MUW) on 29 July. As it turned out, he suffers from dilated cardiomyopathy - a type of a genetic illness. He was quickly admitted for an immediate heart transplantation. The surgery was performed on August 2 at the Pediatric Clinical Hospital UCC MUW, four days after the diagnosis. A couple of days later, the doctors have transplanted the heart of another young patient. 
50th anniversary of the class of 1972
Until September 18 of this year, graduates of the 1972 class of the Faculty of Medicine of the then Medical Academy can register their participation in the planned diploma renewal ceremony.
Visit of the Rwandan Ambassador
Professor Anastase Shyaka, Ambassador of Rwanda to Poland was hosted by Professor Zbigniew Gaciong, Rector of MUW. The meeting focused on future cooperation in training medical students at the emerging medical university in Kigali, the capital of Rwanda. They also discussed the possibility of training doctors from that country by Polish specialists.
