A multidisciplinary team from UCK WUM performed an innovative procedure of endovascular arteriovenous fistula creation. This is the first such solution used in Central and Eastern Europe. On April 12, the fistula was used to perform hemodialysis on the patient. The patient feels well.
On April 8 and 9, as part of the XV Spring with Physiotherapy, several hundred people exchanged knowledge and views on the rehabilitation of patients after SARS-CoV-2 infection. During the event, as part of two sessions, 14 master's and doctoral theses were presented, as well as four thematic workshops and a thesis competition were held. The expert lecture was delivered by Jan Szczegielniak, MD, PhD, Professor of Opole University of Technology, National Consultant in Physiotherapy. The conference culminated with a volleyball match for the Faculty of Medical Sciences Dean's Cup MUW.
Last Saturday, in shopping malls in 11 cities in Poland, students of the largest Polish medical universities performed free examinations and gave advice on the prevention of civilization diseases, especially thyroid diseases. It was a part of the nationwide "Consult with a Pharmacist" event. Every year it is organized by the Polish Society of Pharmacy Students - the largest independent organization of pharmacy students and graduates from all over Poland. MUW students educated and examined Warsaw residents in two of the capital's shopping malls: Młociny and Rondo Wiatraczna. Dozens of volunteers on behalf of our University took part in the action.
Our University will once again host Professor Piotr Sicinski, pathologist and molecular biologist from Harvard Medical School (Department of Cancer Biology, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute). Prof. Siciński will give lecture focuse on NA replication, to which we invite employees and students of MUW. The lecture will be interactive, with audience participation.
On April 7 prominent experts in the field of dentistry met at the MUW. They shared their experiences and the latest knowledge. It took place within the framework of the International West-East Conference. The scientific event coincided with the anniversary of our Faculty of Dental Medicine. Therefore, it was exceptionally festive.
Five of our academic teachers received nominations from President Andrzej Duda.
The Foreign Language Center of the Medical University of Warsaw, as part of the "Solidarity with Ukraine" program of the National Agency for Academic Exchange, has opened registration for free preparatory courses in Polish.
We know the authors of the best M.Sc. theses 2020/2021 at the Faculty of Pharmacy - the winners of the Faculty's Master's Thesis Competition. The competition was organized for the 58th time in the field of pharmacy and for the 12th time in the field of medical analysis. It was settled during a formal lecture session.
Tomasz Grzywa and Michał Kuryłek were among the 25 finalists of the prestigious Forbes "25 under 25" competition. This is a list of the most talented Poles who are not yet 25 years old.
