Please read the following Order No. 42/2021 of the Rector of the Medical University of Warsaw of 8 February 2021 amending the Order No. 193/2020 of the Rector of the Medical University of Warsaw of September 24, 2020 on the organization of classes at studies, doctoral studies, doctoral school, postgraduate studies, courses and training, and the organization of credits and examinations, in the academic year 2020/2021 in connection with the COVID-19 epidemic.

On January 19, 2021, Prof. Tadeusz Wróblewski from the Department and Clinic of General, Transplant and Liver Surgery at the Independent Public Central Clinical Hospital of the University Clinical Center of the Medical University of Warsaw headed by Prof. Krzysztof Zieniewicz,  performed the first in Poland  resection of 2 cancerous liver tumors with laparoscopic and thoracoscopic approach.

On 26 January this year, on the 55th anniversary of the first successful kidney transplantation in Poland, a familial kidney transplant was performed at the Department of General and Transplantation Surgery of the UCC MUW

Doctors from the 2nd Department of Clinical Radiology at UCC MUW, headed by Prof. Olgierd Rowinski, performed the first jejunostomy procedure in Poland under fluoroscopy and ultrasound guidance without using endoscopy.

On December 9, 2020, the HighLife 29 mm transcatheter biologic mitral valve (TMVI) was implanted via femoral access for the second time in Poland and the twelfth time worldwide. The procedure took place in the Hemodynamics Laboratory (Head: Associate Professor Janusz Kochman) of the 1st Department of Cardiology of the Medical University of Warsaw (Head: professor Grzegorz Opolski).

The researchers from MUW will carry out a research and implementation project on the treatment of respiratory failure in the course of COVID-19 with the use of a helmet, non-invasive ventilatory support and high-flow oxygen therapy (HFO2T).

The official journal of the American Academy of Neurology "Annals of Neurology" published the results of the EPISTOP study, in which 16 centers from Europe, the USA and Australia participated (10 clinical centers, 5 laboratories and one administrative center). The study was coordinated by Prof. Sergiusz Jóźwiak, Head of the Department of Child Neurology of the UCC MUW.

On December 16th, the District Medical Council together with the Commission for Dental Doctors awarded Prof. Dorota Olczak-Kowalczyk, acting as the Dean of the Faculty of Dental Medicine of the MUW, the head of the Department of Pediatric Dentistry of the FDM MUW, the national consultant for pediatric dentistry, the president of the Polish Pediatric Dentistry Association, with the St. Apollonia Award.

Aleksandra Gąsecka-van der Pol, MD, PhD, and Łukasz Kołtowski, MD, PhD, have been awarded this year's AISN PTK 2020 grant in cooperation with Abbott Medical.
