Diploma renewal ceremony after 50 years

On Friday, May 19, doctors and dentists who left the walls of our Alma Mater in 1973 celebrated the 50th anniversary of receiving their diplomas at the Teaching Center MUW. The ceremony was not only a recognition of their professional work for the benefit of patients, but also an opportunity to renew their sense of community with the university. The event was hosted by the dean's office of the Faculty of Medicine.

Nearly a hundred people showed up for the diploma renewal ceremony: 82 doctors and 11 dentists. Prof. Zbigniew Gaciong, Rector, accompanied the graduates of the '73 class on this day, full of positive emotions and memories.

- Your presence is proof of your ties to the faculty and to the university, and your beautiful resumes prove that the education gained within the walls of the university can be translated into fruitful work in numerous fields - clinical, scientific or didactic - in a wonderful way - Professor Rafal Krenke, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, said to those in attendance.

Prof. Zbigniew Gaciong emphasized: - This ceremony is a look back at your own life path. Here you can be proud not only of your choice of profession, but also of what benefits your work has brought to patients. This is a certain moment of summing up the mission that we in the medical profession have been doing all our lives, at any time and in any place. There is no moment in life when you can stop being a doctor.

Diplomas

The graduates received symbolic diplomas confirming their contributions to Polish medicine and their many years of commitment and dedication to saving human health and life. And the realization of "the noble mission of helping the sick, training and shaping the attitudes of younger generations of doctors and the development of the health care system." The doctors were presented with their awards by the rector and the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine. Whereas, the dentists by the Rector, the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Prof. Dorota Olczak-Kowalczyk, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry.

Master-student relationship

Among the heroes of the event were a group of academic teachers and clinicians associated with our university. The special importance of the master-student relationship in the medical profession resounded several times during the ceremony. Prof. Rafal Krenke, seeing familiar faces, addressed his gratitude to them for being able to learn how to practice his profession from them. This group was also thanked by the Rector. - This is a special moment for us, including me, because I can tell from my own example what a great role you have played for the young doctors you taught the medical profession - Prof. Gaciong said. Dr. Łukasz Koperski, who read out the names of the graduates, twice - touched - personally thanked his teachers: Dorota Biernacka and Małgorzata Kubicka-Pertkiewicz.

Words on behalf of the jubilarians

It was delivered by Dr. Adam Ostrzycki. - Those in the medical profession, especially doctors, are fortunate in life that in addition to being able to take care of themselves and their families, they can devote their time, their skills and their knowledge to others. This is an extraordinary gift that we have enjoyed for 50 years - the speaker said. He also referred to the essence of the master-student relationship in medicine, stressing that it still has not devalued. Finally, he thanked the university and the faculty for organizing such a wonderful ceremony.

 
The event ended with a mini-concert by the MUW Choir, which performed the songs "Down by the river", "The longest time" and "Always where you are".

In addition to those mentioned above, also present at the ceremony were the Vice Deans of the Faculty of Medicine: Prof. Aleksandra Banaszkiewicz, Prof. Tadeusz Grochowiecki and Jacek Sieńko, MD, PhD.
