Prof. Andrzej Górski was recognized for his research on the use of bacteriophages to combat drug-resistant bacterial infections and their potential applications in other pathologies. He was also recognized for promoting ethical principles in science.
Dr. Marcin Morawski was recognized for his doctoral dissertation, “Analysis of the impact of biological factors and new technologies on the occurrence of complications and treatment outcomes in oncological and transplantation surgery."
The award recommendation stated that Dr. Morawski’s research, conducted as part of his doctoral dissertation, provides a better understanding of the significance of the dHOPE method (dual hypothermic oxygenated perfusion) in organ transplantation, as well as its role in safely expanding the pool of livers available for transplantation. The study also contributes to the development of transplant oncology. Dr. Morawski’s doctoral dissertation was supervised by Dr. hab. Maciej Krasnodębski from the Chair and Department of General, Transplantation and Liver Surgery at WUM.
Dr. Krzysztof Stępień received the award for his doctoral dissertation, “Selected aspects of the quality of certain dietary supplements containing amino acids.” The recommendation stated that the findings of Dr. Stępień’s research, conducted as part of his doctoral dissertation, make a significant contribution to the development of analytical methods used to assess the quality of dietary supplements. Dr. Stępień’s doctoral dissertation was supervised by Prof. Joanna Giebułtowicz from the Department of Drug Chemistry, Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Analysis at WUM.
