The number of Clostridioides difficile infections is increasing, and current treatment often fails to produce satisfactory results. Therefore, new and more effective methods are needed. MSc Eng. Piotr Lalowski, a PhD candidate from the Chair and Department of Medical Microbiology at the Medical University of Warsaw (WUM), will investigate in his project whether polyphenols and postbiotics can weaken C. difficile and help restore a healthy gut microbiota. If so, these substances may become a practical support in preventing disease recurrence. This is particularly important for patients with intestinal diseases, whose disrupted microbiota predisposes them to frequent and severe infections.
