600 barrier tents for MUW hospitals in the fight against COVID-19

The MUW Medical Simulation and Innovation Centre in cooperation with the Warsaw Stock Exchange will equip hospitals across the country with 2 000 barrier tents-innovative tools to fight the coronavirus pandemic. Among the medical entities that will receive the tents are also MUW's clinical hospitals-a total of 600 pieces of this equipment will get to the hospitals.

The barrier tent is a protective medical tool designed to significantly reduce the viral risk from the spread of an aerosol exhaled by the patients with SARS-CoV-2 or other highly infectious pathogens. It is an additional barrier between healthcare personnel and a ventilated patient with COVID-19. The device has a simple, practical, disposable and economical design. It is made of 0.3 mm thick transparent foil and resembles a small folding tent. It covers the patient's upper body and head, whereas  two holes with sleeves equipped with stoppers ensure an easy and safe access to the patient. The construction requires a ground stabilization system  and a reinforcement with an adhesive tape.

Providing hospitals with a barrier tent is another initiative of the MUW Medical Simulation and Innovation Centre and the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
