Behind them are years of intensive study, practical and clinical classes, exams, and more than a few sleepless nights. Ahead of them lie new professional challenges that they can face with confidence and courage, because the knowledge and skills they acquired while studying at the Medical University of Warsaw have made them excellent specialists. On October 14, graduates of audiophonology with hearing prosthetics, radiology, physiotherapy, and general and clinical speech therapy proudly received their diplomas, marking the culmination of their hard work and perseverance.
In the 2025–2026 academic year, 250 students completed these programs. They celebrated their achievement alongside the Faculty’s authorities and staff, representatives of the university authorities, and their loved ones.
A path that leads to others
“I wanted to begin by saying that I’m glad to be here with you today. The problem is that I’m here to say goodbye to you, so under these circumstances, saying ‘I’m glad’ would be a complete lie. I’m simply sorry to see you go. Nevertheless, I’m proud that today we are sending you out into the world with a wealth of knowledge and skills,” said Professor Marek Kuch, Vice-Rector for Student Affairs and Education, representing the university authorities.
The Vice-Rector pointed out that, as graduates leave the university, the independence they have gained during their studies comes with responsibility, above all for their patients. He therefore urged them to remember that in the medical professions, no one can say, “I already know everything,” because learning never ends. He concluded by wishing them every success in their new professional careers.
Success in both their professional and personal lives was also wished to the graduates by Professor Agnieszka Mielczarek, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry and host of the ceremony.
“On behalf of our entire academic community, I would like to thank you and tell you that we are proud to have been able to accompany you on this academic journey,” the Dean said.
Referring to the diversity of the programs completed by the graduates gathered in the auditorium, she emphasized that they were united by a common mission: caring for the well-being of others who need competent, attentive, and responsible assistance.
“May the knowledge you have acquired serve not merely as a store of information, but above all as a foundation for wise action and responsible decision-making. I wish you the ability to put your professional skills into practice with empathy, professionalism, and respect for others,” Professor Mielczarek stressed.
Dr. hab. Agnieszka Stępień, President of the National Council of Physiotherapists, also sent the graduates her warm wishes. In her congratulatory letter, she wrote:
“I wish you curiosity as you continue to expand your knowledge, humility in approaching what you do not yet know, and a commitment to always putting people at the center of your work.”
The letter was read aloud by Renata Markiewicz, the National Council of Physiotherapists’ coordinator for the Mazowieckie Voivodeship, who also wished the graduates all the best.
The graduates’ oath
No diploma ceremony would be complete without the graduates collectively reciting their oath. Graduates of both bachelor’s and master’s programs pledged, among other things, to serve human life and health to the best of their knowledge, prevent disease and alleviate suffering, treat patients with the respect they deserve, and uphold the dignity of their profession.
The best of the best
Before the diplomas were presented, graduates who had particularly distinguished themselves during their studies were honored. The Golden Laurel of the Graduate was awarded to Karolina Pokorska, a graduate of physiotherapy; Aleksandra Galara, a graduate of general and clinical speech therapy; and Magdalena Podjaska and Joanna Torsz, graduates of radiology.
Students who graduated with distinction were also recognized. They were Olga Janista, a graduate of audiophonology with hearing prosthetics; Maria Mirska, Aleksandra Łempicka, Magdalena Podjaska, and Joanna Torsz, graduates of radiology; Karolina Pokorska, a graduate of physiotherapy; and Aleksandra Galara, Amelia Chmielewska, Zuzanna Dołęgowska, Urszula Radziszewska, Wiktoria Baczewska, Zofia Jagodzińska, and Bartosz Chudzicki, graduates of general and clinical speech therapy.
Aleksandra Galara also received an award from TU INTER Polska, presented by Katarzyna Ładno, Director of the Warsaw branch.
“We’re not leaving empty-handed”
Barbara Gredecka spoke on behalf of the graduates. Visibly moved, she admitted that it felt as though she had crossed the university threshold for the first time only yesterday, and yet the time had already come to say goodbye. She thanked the faculty members for the wealth of knowledge they had shared, the administrative staff for helping students navigate university formalities, and parents and friends for their support and love.
“Today, we are leaving the Medical University of Warsaw, but we are not leaving empty-handed. We are taking with us a wealth of knowledge and experience, as well as relationships that, hopefully, will stand the test of time. We are closing one chapter, but that means we are beginning to write another chapter that is just as exciting. Thank you for allowing me to share these moments with you. My heartfelt congratulations to you all, and I wish you great success in your future endeavors,” the graduate said.
Never lose your curiosity about the world
At many graduation ceremonies, junior students traditionally address the graduates. This makes the ceremony not only an opportunity to congratulate them, but also a way of expressing gratitude for their contributions to the academic community.
Klaudia Dwornikiewicz, President of the Student Government of the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, therefore spoke at the end of the ceremony. She expressed the hope that the graduates would never lose their curiosity about the world or the courage to ask questions, that they would meet people along the way from whom they could learn a great deal and become role models themselves, and that they would find satisfaction in seeing the results of their work while never forgetting to take care of themselves as they care for others.
“Dear graduates, may today be a source of pride and wonderful memories for you, and a reminder that everything that brought you here has mattered,” Klaudia Dwornikiewicz said in closing.
Barbara Gredecka and Franciszek Uliński received special recognition from the Student Government of the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry for their ongoing support and willingness to help.
The musical accompaniment for the ceremony was provided by the Choir of the Medical University of Warsaw. The choir members thanked graduate Marta Żak for years of singing together and for her commitment to the ensemble.
The ceremony concluded with a performance by the Feroce String Quartet, followed by the traditional tossing of mortarboards and a group photograph.
In addition to the Dean of the Faculty, the event was hosted by the Vice-Deans: Prof. Izabela Domitrz, Prof. Jolanta Kostrzewa-Janicka, Dr. hab. Joanna Peradzyńska, and Dr. hab. Piotr Regulski.
In addition to those mentioned above, the ceremony was attended by academic staff representing units of the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, Dean’s Office staff, members of the Faculty Council, and students serving on the Student Government of the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry.
