WUM student scientific society campaign at SGH

The Student Scientific Society operating at the Clinic of Infectious, Tropical, and Hepatological Diseases carried out another edition of an informational campaign dedicated to HIV prevention. This year’s event, organized on the occasion of World AIDS Day, was aimed at the community of the Warsaw School of Economics (SGH).

The booth, equipped with materials provided by the National AIDS Center, quickly became a place of intensive conversations. Approximately one thousand leaflets were distributed within a few hours. Students engaged in discussions about modern methods of preventing HIV infection. Questions frequently focused on topics such as the effectiveness of available preventive strategies and the functioning of the U=U principle (undetectable = untransmittable), which is an important element of the contemporary approach to treatment and prevention.

The organizers also emphasized the importance of regular testing, reminding participants that HIV testing is available free of charge and anonymously at counseling and diagnostic centers. Conversations with students made it possible to identify the most common myths about HIV and AIDS and to highlight sources of reliable information.

The event, held under the patronage of the National AIDS Center, confirmed that public health education often begins with a simple gesture: approaching the booth and asking a question.
