A WUM student among young leaders in cardiology

Adrian Bendarek, a fifth-year medical student and a doctoral student at 1st Chair and Department of Cardiology of the Medical University of Warsaw, is participating in the prestigious Emerging Leaders program organized by the World Heart Federation (WHF). This is a major distinction, as he is the only student among the 25 individuals invited to participate in the program.

The Emerging Leaders program is an international initiative designed to develop the competencies of future leaders in cardiology. Participants include specialists from around the world, such as experts from Mayo Clinic and Mount Sinai Hospital. Adrian Bendarek’s participation highlights the growing role of young researchers from our university in international initiatives supporting the development of modern cardiology.

What this year’s Emerging Leaders are working on

Together with WHF experts, participants are developing a global research project focused on implementing AI-ECG algorithms in routine patient care. The initiative aims to assess the effectiveness and safety of using artificial intelligence and advanced technologies in cardiology and to develop practical recommendations for medical centers worldwide.

From November 15 to 19, the in-person part of the program took place in Florence, where the team worked on the framework of the research project, its methodology, and the implementation plan. Participants are now preparing for the next stages of the project.

On the occasion of this achievement, we also recall Adrian Bendarek’s scientific article on the integration of imaging, data, and AI in cardiology. See the article titled “Algorithms in the Service of the Heart – A New Era of Coronary Diagnostics.”
