WUM cycling meetup for the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity

87.38 km, 3 hours and 36 minutes, and 1,500 calories burned. This was the result of a cycling ride involving six passionate cyclists from WUM, along with three winners who, in January, placed the highest bids in cycling-themed auctions as part of the “WUM Community for the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity” initiative. Thanks to them, nearly PLN 2,500 was donated to support the improved diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal diseases in the youngest patients.

The cycling group included Anna Kupczak from the Student Government, Dr. hab. Filip Raciborski, Vice Dean for Public Health at the Faculty of Health Sciences, Prof. Marek Postuła from the Department of Experimental and Clinical Pharmacology, Prof. Paweł Łęgosz, Head of the Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology of the Locomotion System, Jarosław Prugar, Deputy Chancellor for Operations, Tomasz Świętoniowski from the Office for Communication and Promotion, as well as Mr. Paweł, Mr. Kornel, and Mr. Marek.

The cyclists set off from the Rectorate building. They were officially sent off by Prof. Marek Kuch, Vice Rector for Student Affairs and Education and an avid cycling enthusiast.

There and back again

The destination was Góra Kalwaria, where the group stopped for coffee at a café well known among cycling enthusiasts and filled with memorabilia from Polish cycling legends. The scenic route led through Konstancin-Jeziorna, Gassy, and Cieciszew. Upon arrival, the group took a photo in front of a mural depicting Michał Kwiatkowski just after he won the World Championship in Ponferrada, Spain, in 2014.

After coffee, the cyclists headed back to Warsaw. Although they covered nearly 88 km together, for some it was definitely not enough, so they extended their distance to 100 km. Congratulations!
