The results of the Center for World University Rankings (CWUR) 2026 have been already announced. With a score of 71.1 points, the Medical University of Warsaw (WUM) ranked 908th globally, an improvement of eight places compared with last year. Among Polish higher education institutions, WUM achieved an impressive 9th place, including 2nd place among medical universities. This strong position in the ranking proves that at our university we educate at the highest level.
As every year, the Center for World University Rankings evaluated more than 20,000 universities worldwide. The ranking includes only the top 2,000 institutions. Among them were 39 Polish universities and research institutes, including nine medical universities. How does WUM compare with other medical universities in Poland? We are behind the Piast Silesian Medical University in Wrocław by only 0.1 points(8th place among domestic universities).
About the CWUR Ranking
The CWUR ranking has been published annually since 2012. Its methodology is based on the following indicators:
- Education Quality, measured by the number of a university’s alumni who have received major academic distinctions, considering the university's size (25%).
- Alumni Employment, measured by the number of alumni who have held top executive positions at the world's largest companies, considering the university's size (25%).
- Quality Research, measured by the number of researchers who have received academic distinctions (10%).
- Research: research output measured by the total number of scientific publications (10%), high-quality publications measured by a number of papers published in the most prestigious journals (10%), the number of scientific papers appearing in highly regarded journals (10%), citations of scientific papers (10%)
In this year’s ranking, Harvard University ranked 1st worldwide, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) ranked 2nd worldwide, Stanford University completed the podium.
