The GRAS 2026 ranking included about 2,000 universities from 100 countries and regions of the world. Universities were classified in 57 disciplines belonging to five main areas: natural sciences, engineering, life sciences, medical sciences and social sciences. The ranking was prepared based on objective academic indices and data obtained from external bibliometric databases.
Impact of scientific research as the strength of WUM
In the “Medical Technology” discipline, our university ranked in the 201-300 range, which means it maintained its position from the previous year. Among the assessed indices, we achieved the highest rate in the “Research Impact” category (36.7), which measures the impact of scientific publications based on the number of citations (according to data from the InCites database).
WUM was also among six Polish universities listed in the “Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences” discipline, occupying a place in the 401-500 range. Also here, the impact of scientific publications obtained the highest rates (“Research Impact” 33.7), which is the second best result among Polish universities included in this category.
In this discipline, WUM also achieved the highest “World-Class Output” index in Poland (together with the Jagiellonian University). This index includes the number of publications in the most prestigious scientific journals and at leading academic conferences, as well as the achievements of scientists distinguished with significant awards.
For the first time, WUM was also classified in the “Human Biological Sciences” discipline, occupying a place in the 401-500 range. It is one of only three Polish medical universities included in this ranking. WUM also achieved the highest rank in the “Research Impact” category (31.9). The university also obtained the highest “World-Class Output” index among Polish universities.
