Water from the swimming pool of the CSR WUM is used for eco cleaning the city

On July 17, in the evening hours, large vehicles of the City Cleaning Plant appeared in front of the Sports and Rehabilitation Center (CSR WUM). They came to pick up a precious cargo – water from the pool! This is because every year the water needs to be replaced. "Old" water, on the other hand, receives a second life. This year it was used by the city to wash streets and streetcar tracks in Wola, Mokotów and Wilanów. This is the third action to collect water from the pool from the CSR WUM swimming pool and reuse it by the City Cleaning Board.

According to the City Cleaning Board (ZOM), the water from the pools is taken when the time necessary for the preparations used to disinfect it has passed. It is therefore neutral to humans and the environment, as well as to the surfaces being cleaned.

- We are happy that in this way we can at least take care of the environment, especially in the situation of a persistent hydrological drought - says Karolina Skinder, Head of the Sports and Rehabilitation Center MUW. She adds: - And also act for the benefit of Warsaw residents. Cleaning streets and tracks is not only a matter of aesthetics, but also of safety.

The pumping out of water from pool of the CSR WUM lasted several hours: from 7:30 p.m. to midnight. This year, ZOM collected about 100 m3 of water from us. In 2021 it was 404 m3, in 2022 - 96 m3.

It is worth noting that the CSR WUM building uses a lot of environmental solutions. The facility has a tank for rainwater and water from rinsing the pool filters, which in turn is used to flush toilets. There are also heat recovery devices, as well as a solar and photovoltaic installation.

In the interest of quality and safety

There is a technological break at the swimming pool until August 15. Intensive cleanup effort is underway to ensure that the pool meets all sanitary and hygienic requirements.

Karolina Skinder: - The swimming pool basin, locker rooms, showers are thoroughly cleaned and disinfected. The most time-consuming, of course, is the replacement of water. And it's not just the filling of the pool, but also the entire treatment process. After this process, water tests are performed to see if the parameters are correct. We try to maintain the highest quality in our facility. After August 15, all swimming enthusiasts are welcome back to the CSR WUM.

CSR WUM ideal for sporting activities

There is also a sports hall for team games, including volleyball, basketball and tennis. Dance and combat sports rooms are also available. Despite the works at the pool, you can use the dry and steam saunas. The entire offer is available on the Sports and Rehabilitation Center MUW website.

Whereas, our students, who use the facility as part of their physical education classes and activities in AZS WUM, will return to CSR WUM in October.
