When welcoming the guests Prof. Rafał Stec, the Head of the Department and the initiator of the event emphasized: "The idea and purpose of organizing the concert is to remember our patients."
The Professor was supported by Justyna Sieńczyłło, an actress associated with the Kamienica Theater, who unfortunately was unable to participate in the event due to illness. This is another joint project of Prof. Stec and Justyna Sieńczyłło for the benefit of cancer patients. The first – equally unique and touching event – is joint caroling in the department, thanks to which patients who have to stay in the hospital can feel the magic of Christmas together with their families. More about caroling
A dose of positive energy
This time, the hall of the MUW Didactic Center featured well-known and popular songs performed by renowned Polish singers: Danuta Błażejczyk and Małgorzata Stępień. But not only! The students of the stage vocal section of the Secondary State School of Music at the F. Chopin Music School Complex in Warsaw under the direction of Krzysztof Matuszak also sang beautifully and movingly. You could listen to, hum together, and even dance to songs such as: „Walc na cztery łapy”, „Cud niepamięci”, „Tatuaż”, „Simple the Best”, „Los kocha tych, co ufają mu”.
The audience also listened to instrumental pieces. Julia Subrymanian played the harp, and students of the Henryk Wieniawski Primary State School of Music No. 5 in Warsaw under the direction of Anna Szot – played the violin. At the end, the whole group performed Stanisław Soyka's "Tolerancja".
Making music together with exceptional people
The February concert could take place thanks to the selfless involvement of a large number of people: artists, representatives of cultural institutions and foundations. The event was co-organized by: TVP Television, Center for Artistic Education, Polish National Federation of Oncology, the Rak'n'Roll Foundation and two music schools whose representatives performed on the stage. The concert was hosted by Patrycja Pawlik from the Kamienica Theater together with Professor Stec.
See you next year
At the end of the event, the organizers assured that this would not be the last concert of this kind. They added that they were starting work on the next year's edition of the event! We are already inviting all friends of the department and our hospital, medical staff, students, academics, lovers of good music, as well as those who simply want to participate in such an important and necessary initiative. See you in February 2027!
The concert was attended by: Jolanta Sobierańska-Grenda, the Minister of Health; Konrad Korbiński, General Director at the Ministry of Health; Dr. Filip Nowak, the President of the National Health Fund; Prof. Agnieszka Cudnoch-Jędrzejewska, the Vice Rector for Clinical Affairs and Investment; Prof. Marek Kuch, the Vice Rector for Student Affairs and Education; Marzena Kowalczyk, the Director of UCC MUW.
World Cancer Day was established at the World Cancer Summit in February 2000 in Paris. The day is not only to contribute to increasing public awareness of oncological diseases, but also to encourage solidarity with patients and their relatives.
