The conference was organized at the initiative of Dr. Agnieszka Gorgoń-Komor, Chair of the Parliamentary Cardiology Group. In addition to Prof. Marcin Grabowski, the event was attended by Tomasz Lewandowski, Director of the Department of Health Education and Promotion at the Ministry of Health; Prof. Maciej Banach of the Medical University of Łódź; and Marek Kustosz, President of the “To się leczy” Foundation.
During the conference, Prof. Grabowski pointed out that approximately 100,000 new cases of heart attack are recorded in Poland every year, emphasizing that effective management of lipid disorders could significantly reduce this number. He noted that prevention is not only less expensive but, above all, more effective than treating the consequences of cardiovascular diseases. Elevated cholesterol levels, including hypercholesterolemia, are a widespread health problem, but they can be effectively managed through appropriate diagnosis and treatment. He also added being diagnosed with high cholesterol should not cause fear but should prompt patients to consult a specialist, especially since many effective treatment options are available.
