Discussions on joint research, clinical, and educational initiatives
During the meeting, numerous opportunities for cooperation between WUM and Ehime University were discussed, including in the areas of TGF-β/BMP bioimaging, immunotherapy, and the development and application of pharmaceutical probes. The proposals also included the implementation of joint grant projects, which would provide funding for the exchange of students, doctoral candidates, and staff between the two universities.
WUM and Ehime University also intend to sign a Memorandum of Understanding covering exchanges of student and doctoral candidates, the development of scientific cooperation - including joint scientific projects and research programs, the publication of scientific findings, and participation in conferences and symposia.
During his visit, Professor Imamura toured the Banach Campus, including the Preclinical Research Center, the Medical Simulation Center, and the Sports and Rehabilitation Center. The facilities made a strong impression on the Japanese researcher.
WUM’s Collaboration with Japanese Universities
For the past 10 years, based on a Memorandum of Understanding, WUM has been actively collaborating with renowned Japanese universities: Toho University and the Hamamatsu University School of Medicine. Every year, WUM students complete clinical electives in Tokyo and Hamamatsu, while Japanese students do so at WUM. Both the Polish and Japanese participants express exceptionally high satisfaction with this exchange program.
A partnership between the Medical University of Warsaw and yet another prestigious Japanese university would therefore be an excellent opportunity to expand the range of clinical electives available to WUM students in the Land of the Rising Sun.
