We are among the leaders when it comes to the number of candidates for medicine
Based on the ordinance of the Minister of Health of August 7, 2025, our university has 550 openings for full-time studies in medicine in Polish.
Full-time studies in Polish at the WUM attracted 3401 candidates, of which 2442 are women. Out of the 550 candidates admitted to study medicine, 349 (or 63%) are women.
In terms of candidate numbers, the WUM tops the list of medical universities; similarly in terms of the places available. The WUM is one of the three medical universities in Poland for which over half a thousand places were created for candidates willing to study medicine. Out of the total 6649 places for candidates interested in studying medicine full-time in Polish, nearly one in ten will study at the WUM.
Other degree courses popular among candidates
The second most popular degree course is nursing. There were 1919 candidates for 420 places in the first year of first-cycle studies. Women account for 93% of those admitted.
The 84 places at the full-time dentistry course in Polish attracted 787 individuals, i.e. 9.8 persons per place. Sixty-one women were admitted, which account for 73%.
Pharmacy, with 180 places, attracted 612 candidates. Of those admitted, 74% are women.
Medical analytics attracted 532 candidates. Out of 80 individuals accepted, 80% are women.
Physiotherapy was quite popular as well: 846 candidates wanted to get one of the 150 places at the WUM to study it. Women account for 77% of those admitted.
For midwifery, 222 out of 792 candidates were admitted.
Women outnumber men by the lowest figure among candidates admitted to study medical rescue – they will account for 52% of those starting the academic year. For that course, there were 568 candidates, with 120 places available.
In the new academic year, the WUM is launching second-cycle (master’s) degree courses in medical rescue, with 72 places.
Over 3600 new students
In the 2025/26 academic year, a total of 3632 students will start their first year. Full-time first-cycle studies in Polish will be started by 2321 students; 3012 students will start first- and second-cycle full-time studies, while part-time studies in Polish will welcome 445 students, of which 170 will study medicine, and 30 – dentistry.
Furthermore, our university will accept 150 students for paid medical studies in English (English Division), and 25 students for dentistry in English (Dentistry Division).
Admissions are still open
It is worth noting that admissions are open until the end of September. Candidates who got admitted to several universities still have some time to make their final decisions. This is why it is difficult to talk about how many points secured admission.
There are still places available at first-cycle full-time studies in nutrition and public health. The last day for choosing the degree course and paying the admission fee is Wednesday, September 10. On September 11, the system will be closed, which means that the candidate must have the application correctly filled in and approved, and the admission fee registered in the ORS.
We are also waiting for candidates interested in second-cycle full-time studies in electroradiology. Applications can be submitted in the Online Recruitment System until September 1, 2025, as stated in the attached schedule for supplementary admissions:
