The Sanitary and Epidemiological Council is an advisory and consultative body to the Chief Sanitary Inspector. Prof. Justyna D. Kowalska, head of the Observational Research Unit in Infectious Diseases, has been appointed to the Council.
The Council is appointed for a three-year term. It deals with matters within the remit of the State Sanitary Inspection in the area of public health, in particular by supervising environmental hygiene, occupational hygiene in workplaces, radiation hygiene, hygiene in teaching and educational processes, hygiene in rest and recreation, food safety, nutrition and cosmetic products, and the sanitary and hygiene requirements that medical personnel, equipment, and premises used to provide health care services must meet.
