The right to organize competitions was granted to our university thanks to the victory of Szczepan Wąsik, Salem Hamdan and Wiktor Grosz in last year's Simulations.
The organization of the 10th edition and the first place of our students perfectly fit into the 100th anniversary of the Faculty of Pharmacy, which we have been celebrating since the beginning of 2026.
"The victory of our students in the year of such an important anniversary is the best proof that the long-standing tradition of top-quality education goes hand in hand with modernity and passion," explained Szczepan Wąsik, one of the organizers of the event from the Student Society of Laboratory Diagnostics at the MUW.
A friendly competition
The awards were presented to the winners by the representatives of the authorities of the Faculty of Pharmacy: the Dean, Prof. Piotr Luliński, and the Vice Dean for Education in the field of Medical Analytics, Prof. Olga Ciepiela.
"Congratulations to everyone and thank you for your presence, because the presence is what matters most in this competition. I hope that the three days you spent at our department helped you develop friendships," said the Dean.
The Vice Dean also joined in the congratulations, taking the opportunity to highlight the role of laboratory diagnosticians in patient care.
"The work of diagnosticians shifts from manual activities to diagnostic advice. The most important part of the work is the interpretation of the results, which greatly supports physicians in making clinical decisions," emphasized Professor Ciepiela.
What did the competition involve?
The bar was set very high in the competition. The competitions included hematology with blood type serology, laboratory and molecular diagnostics, general analytics, and microbiology with parasitology. Such a broad range of topics, covering the entire course of study, made it possible to thoroughly verify the participants' knowledge. Success was determined by time, correct diagnosis and logical thinking.
The employees of the following departments were responsible for preparing the competition: Department of Laboratory Medicine, Department of Pharmaceutical Microbiology and Bioanalysis, Department of Laboratory Diagnostics and Clinical Immunology of Developmental Age, and Department of Cancer Biology and Genetics. ]
Was there anything particularly difficult for the participants? Tasks in molecular diagnostics as well as ones in microbiology turned out to be demanding, although the students emphasized that both were very interesting.
"The participants demonstrated that they were not only proficient in analytical procedures, but above all, they were impressively capable of performing the clinical interpretation of the results," explained Szczepan Wąsik.
The title of the best diagnosticians of the young generation for Warsaw
Although our students could not believe the win right after the announcement of the results, it is a fact! They scored as many as 115 points in the competition! The second place went to the team from Wrocław, which scored 99.5 points, and the third place went to the team from Kraków, which scored 94.5 points.
Subsequent places were taken by students from: Szczecin, Białystok, Gdańsk, Łódź and Sosnowiec.
"The high level of all teams shows that medical analytics students are perfectly prepared to work in the dynamically changing environment of modern medicine," concluded Szczepan Wąsik.
A third win for our students
For the third time in the history of the competition, our students of Medical Analytics proved that they had the knowledge, practical skills and the ability to analyze and draw conclusions.
