Professor Krzysztof Mucha, head of the Chair and Department of Transplant Medicine, Immunology, Nephrology and Internal Medicine at the Medical University of Warsaw, was elected president-elect of the Polish Society of Internal Medicine (TIP) for the 2026–2030 term. He will serve as president of TIP in the 2030–2034 term.
Elections to the Main Board (2026–2030) were also held. Among its members are researchers representing our university: Prof. Bartosz Foroncewicz from the Chair and Department of Transplant Medicine, Immunology, Nephrology and Internal Medicine, and Dr. hab. Marta Lakshmi Maskey-Warzęchowska from the Chair and Department of Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Diseases and Allergy. This is a significant distinction, as among the 16 members of the Main Board of the third-oldest medical society in Poland, as many as three are affiliated with WUM.

The elections were combined with the celebration of the 120th anniversary of the Polish Society of Internal Medicine and the accompanying conference. The program of the 25th Training Conference “Advances in Internal Medicine” INTERNA 2026 included topics related to clinical practice, current guidelines, and satellite sessions.
Lecturers representing the Medical University of Warsaw included: Prof. Rafał Krenke, Rector of WUM and head of the Chair and Department of Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Diseases and Allergy; Prof. Urszula Ambroziak, head of the Chair and Department of Internal Medicine and Endocrinology; Prof. Hanna Szajewska, head of the Department of Pediatrics; Dr. hab. Agata Tymińska from the 1st Chair and Department of Cardiology; Prof. Piotr Milikiewcz from the Department of Hepatology, Transplant Medicine and Internal Medicine; Prof. Krzysztof Mucha, head of the Chair and Department of Transplant Medicine, Immunology, Nephrology and Internal Medicine; and Prof. Krzysztof Ozierański from the 1st Chair and Department of Cardiology.
Satellite sessions were chaired by Prof. Paweł Balsam from the 1st Chair and Department of Cardiology, Prof. Przemysław Bieńkowski from the Chair and Department of Psychiatry, and Prof. Artur Mamcarz, head of the 3rd Department of Internal Diseases and Cardiology.
It is worth noting that researchers from the Medical University of Warsaw constituted the most numerous group of lecturers at this largest annual internal medicine conference.
