The debate focused on the health, preventive care, and quality of life of older adults. The event was held under the patronage of Senate Marshal Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska and initiated by Beata Małecka-Libera, Chair of the Senate Health Committee.
Representatives of public administration, health care institutions, and the academic community took part in the debate, including Prof. Agnieszka Mielczarek, Dean of WUM’s Faculty of Dental Medicine, and Prof. Ewa Czochrowska from WUM’s Department of Orthodontics.
The experts delivered a lecture titled “A Healthy Smile, Health for Years,” focusing on the importance of oral health in maintaining good health and quality of life among older adults. They emphasized the role of preventive dental care and regular checkups, which help maintain health and independence later in life.
The meeting also addressed topics such as active and healthy aging, health promotion, combating health misinformation and the safety of older adults. Participants also heard about the “Senior in the Spotlight” program, implemented by the Chief Sanitary Inspectorate and aimed at people over 60.
The debate provided an opportunity to exchange knowledge and experience among experts representing various fields of medicine and public health, as well as to promote initiatives supporting the health and well-being of older adults.

These issues were discussed during the “Health in the Autumn of Life” debate held at the Senate of the Republic of Poland to mark the International Day of Older Persons. Among the experts were WUM scientists Prof. Agnieszka Mielczarek and Prof. Ewa Czochrowska.
