The tasks of the team include the analysis of the current legal status in the field of biobanking in order to assess whether and to what extent biobank functioning requires legislative intervention, taking account of the provisions of European Union law, indication of specific shortcomings or errors in the current system, as well as – if necessary – the preparation of a draft act specifying biobank activity.
The team also included members of the BBMRI.pl consortium associating eight Polish scientific units dealing with the subject of biobanking, including our university.
Here is a reminder of the interview "Biobank: a scientific investment in the future" with dr hab. Radosław Zagożdżon, head of the Laboratory of Cell and Gene Therapies at the Medical University of Warsaw and the national coordinator for biobanking.
