Our researchers appointed to the ABM Council

Professor Michał Grąt and Professor Dominika Nowis have been appointed by the Minister of Health to serve on the Council of the Medical Research Agency (ABM). Their term of office will last six years.

The Council consists of between 15 and 20 members. The newly appointed Council includes 16 members, primarily medical professionals with extensive knowledge and experience in the field of medical research. Professor Michał Grąt is Head of the Chair and Department of General, Transplant and Liver Surgery at MUW, Vice-Rector for International Relations, Promotion, and Development, National Consultant in Clinical Transplantology, and a member of the National Transplantation Council. Professor Dominika Nowis is Head of the Laboratory of Experimental Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine at MUW.

Responsibilities of the ABM Council

The Council’s core responsibilities include evaluating forward-looking directions in research activity and setting guidelines for the allocation of funding. It is also tasked with issuing opinions on the annual action plan of the Medical Research Agency, which outlines the scope of grant competitions and internal projects to be carried out by the Agency in a given calendar year.
The Council has not yet elected its Chair – the election will take place at the first official meeting.
