We invite you to the conference „Transplantation Horizons: Innovations and Insights”

We will host prominent doctors and professors from Mayo Clinic (USA) at MUW. They will share their knowledge and experiences. They will talk about the latest developments in transplant medicine, surgical innovations, immunological strategies and patient care. Attending this special event, is a chance to learn from the best.

We will host prominent doctors and professors from Mayo Clinic (USA) at MUW. They will share their knowledge and experiences. They will talk about the latest developments in transplant medicine, surgical innovations, immunological strategies and patient care. Attending this special event, is a chance to learn from the best.
The conference will be held on May 5 and 6 this year, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the WUM Didactic Center, 2a Księcia Trojdena Street. On the first day, lectures will be held in Aula B, while on the second day, lectures will be held in Aula A.

Students, PhD students and academic teachers alike are encouraged to attend. Up to eight experts from the Mayo Clinic will speak at the event:

  • Barry A. Boilson, M.D., a cardiologist who specializes in advanced heart failure and cardiac arrhythmias;
  • Timucin Taner, M.D., Ph.D., a transplant surgeon at the Mayo Clinic Transplant Center in Rochester, Minnesota;
  • Mikel Prieto, M.D., a transplant surgeon with experience in kidney and pancreas transplantation and living donation;
  • Arkadiusz Z. Dudek, M.D., Ph.D., a medical oncologist interested in developing new anti-cancer therapies;
  • Aleksandra Kukla M.D., involved in the treatment of people with chronic kidney disease as well as research in the area of kidney and pancreas transplantation;
  • Dr Ty S. Diwan, a surgeon specializing in transplant and minimally invasive surgery;
  • Naim Issa, M.D., nephrologist, transplantologist and consultant at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota;
  • Nelson Leung, M.D., professor of medicine and consultant in the fields of nephrology and hypertension and hematology.

Meanwhile, MUW will be represented by: Prof. Maciej Kosieradzki, Head of the Department of General and Transplantation Surgery, as well as Prof. Bartosz Foroncewicz from the Department of Transplant Medicine, Immunology, Nephrology and Internal Diseases, who will lead the session on the first day. Also on the first day of the conference, Prof. Michal Grąt, Head of the Department of General, Transplant and Liver Surgery, Dr. Maciej Krasnodębski from the same clinic, and Prof. Zbigniew Galązka, Head of the Department of General, Vascular, Endocrine and Transplant Surgery, will deliver lectures.
On the second day, the session will be led by Prof. Magdalena Durlik, Head of the Department of Transplant Medicine, Immunology, Nephrology and Internal Diseases, Prof. Joanna Raszeja-Wyszomirska, from the Department of Hepatology, Transplantation and Internal Medicine, and Prof. Slawomir Nazarewski, from the Department of General, Vascular, Endocrine and Transplant Surgery. And the lectures will be delivered by Zuzanna Jakubowska from the Department of Nephrology, Dialysis and Internal Medicine, Prof. Krzysztof Mucha from the Department of Transplant Medicine, Immunology, Nephrology and Internal Diseases, Prof. Jolanta Malyszko, Head of the Department of Nephrology, Dialysis and Internal Medicine.

Note: Thanks to the participation in the conference, 3rd and 4th year PhD students can pass elective courses.

The event is organized by the WUM Doctoral School as part of the STER NAWA program.
