Festival of Possibilities at MUW

The participants of the Festival of Possibilities at MUW, which took place on Tuesday, May 16, at the Didactic Center MUW, were able to find out how many career prospects await graduates of medical, pharmaceutical and health sciences fields. Representatives from dozens of companies and institutions awaited our students. The events were organized by the MUW's Career Office and the IFMSA-Poland Warsaw Branch.

Dr. Jakub Sokolnicki, head of the Career Office: - The Festival of Possibilities is a new iteration of the well-known Medical Job Fair, which we have been organizing since 2007. We are happy that after a period of pandemic and online activities, we finally managed to organize face-to-face meetings for students with potential employers.

What's in the program/on the agenda

The fair lasted from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. 38 companies and institutions presented their offers, including hospitals, diagnostic laboratories, clinical research companies and medical centers. At their stands one could learn about current job, internship and apprenticeship offers. Dr. Jakub Sokolnicki: - We have invited the largest representatives of the medical and pharmaceutical industries, as well as scientific and research units to participate in the festival. We are keen to show students that they have a wide variety of development paths, and that their competencies are highly valued on the labor market.

In addition to the exhibition zone, the program also included expert advice. Their knowledge in the field of career counseling was shared by: Your Career Group, UW Incubator, MUW Doctoral School and Malgorzata Lipińska-Dawid, psychologist and coach. The festival participants could also learn how to create the perfect resume. And since photography is just as important in a resume as experience, students could take advantage of the photo zone, where professional photographers from the University Communication and Promotion Office took photos for resumes.

The festival was accompanied by a panel led by experts from Innovations Hub Foundation: Jakub Borowy, vice president, and Tomasz Zachwieja, chief financial officer, who spoke, among other things, about building the potential of Polish medical start-ups and the process of implementing the innovations they created. Self-presentation training to prepare for a job interview was also conducted. Advice was given by Julia Górnicka, a soft skills trainer from the Polish Pharmaceutical Students’ Association Warsaw Branch.

The event was held as part of the implementation of the "WUM-AID Academy of Innovative Didactics of the Medical University of Warsaw" project. The next edition of the Festival is scheduled for spring 2024.

It is worth mentioning that in the 23rd edition of the ranking prepared by the "Perspektywy" Educational Foundation, MUW is the second academic university with the highest indicator reflecting the position of the alumni on the labor market.
