"Little Red Riding Hood" at the Children's Clinical Hospital UCC MUW

On April 18, the conference room of the Children's Clinical Hospital UCC MUW was filled to the brim with young patients and their parents. The Academic Magic Theater performed before them the popular "Little Red Riding Hood." This was the first post-pandemic performance prepared with children in mind. There were plenty of positive emotions, and the performance ended with thunderous applause.

Cast and work on the play

The heroes of the popular fairy tale were played by students of our university, representatives of various fields of study: Grzegorz Borowski, Julia Dwornik, Julia Samek, Maciej Majcher, Weronika Brożyna, Miłosz Wydornik, Oliwia Ciosek. Julia Załęcka was the director, Anna Krawczyk was the producer. Julian Rejman was responsible for lighting, while Nina Burzyńska was responsible for makeup.
Work on the play began in November last year. And why exactly "Little Red Riding Hood"? Julia Załęcka: - This is a well-known and well-loved story, which we were able to tell in a new way. We are glad that our interpretation met with the approval of the youngest, because it is known that they are demanding viewers.

Magic Theater breaks hospital routine

The Magic Theater last performed in March 2022. At that time, it staged a play called "Night Phantoms," inspired by Fyodor Dostoevsky's novels and aimed at adult audiences. Now he has returned with a play for the youngest. - Probably everyone is aware that a hospital stay is not one of the most pleasant circumstances, even more so for children - says Anna Krawczyk, co-founder of the Magic Theater. - Young patients are full of curiosity, eager for adventure and entertainment, and unwilling to fall into a routine. And it is with the implementation of such projects that we want to break this hospital routine and bring a smile to the children's faces. After all, it is said that when a child laughs - the whole world laughs.

Of course, this is not the first time Magic Theater has performed for the youngest. The group's repertoire already includes "Cheating Flea" (2019) and "Sad Princess" (2018). The young medics have been entertaining and teaching since the theater's inception, but most importantly, they remind us that the world is not just white gowns, beds and monitors.
