"I welcome you to the ranks of doctors!"

625 graduates received their diplomas and took the medical pledge during the 88th graduation ceremony of the Faculty of Medicine. They could be proud of themselves. They had completed their difficult studies at an uneasy time.

This was their ceremony and they were the main heroes of it. Therefore, Prof. Rafal Krenke, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, opening the ceremony, began by welcoming the young people who had just graduated. Then it was time for congratulations, wishes, guidance and acknowledgements.

- If I can give you the most important advice - said Prof. Zbigniew Gaciong, Rector. - Above all, cherish the friendships you made during your studies. They help a lot in your future professional life. And listen to yourself. You are facing a major life choice: what professional path to take. When answering this question for yourself, be guided by what interests you most, rely on your own beliefs, do not listen to others. I welcome you to the ranks of doctors! - concluded the Rector

Many important words about the ethos of the doctor's work were said during Prof. Rafal Krenke's speech. The Dean of the Faculty of Medicine referred to the words of the anthem of our university.

- The word medicine contains deep faith in wisdom and experience, it contains hope and love. Medicine flourishes fully only when these three virtues meet at the bedside of the sick person and are shared by both patient and doctor. Faith and love tell us to stand by a sick person as long as there is hope. And this one not only cannot be lacking, but we must even maintain and strengthen it in the sick person - Prof. Krenke stressed. And he wished the graduates not to lose their youthful ideals on their path towards this true medicine, which are expressed in such words as "service, benefit of the sick, honor, power of knowledge, faith, hope and love."

The professor thanked the students for the six years together: - Your presence at the university has been a great value. You helped develop and change the university. We were able to make the most of your youthful enthusiasm and try to see reality as you see it. Finally - to enjoy your successes.

The climax of the ceremony was the medical pledge. Then the graduation ceremony began. First, the Golden Laurels, which are awards for graduates who have obtained the highest average over the entire course of study. In the case of the medical field, these were examinations in 31 subjects.  This highest honor from the hands of the Rector was received by Patrycja Krzosek and Michal Pac. Their average grade was 4.87. Diplomas with distinction were awarded to 47 more students who had an average of 4.6 and above. Then more graduates came up for their diplomas. All of them happy, anxious, moved.

Many more graduates were recognized and honored with additional awards. Gold Badges of the Students' Scientific Society, awards of the International Association of Medical Students IFMSA-Poland Warsaw Branch, awards for graduates acting for the benefit of the Faculty and Student Government MUW, and awards for graduates acting for the Academic Sports Association MUW, were presented.

There was no shortage of thanks to the lecturers and authorities of our university. On behalf of all the graduates, they were handed over by Iga Ciesielska, Starost of the Year: - We were fortunate to meet exceptional teachers and mentors during our studies. We would like to thank you for your contribution as guides on the academic trail. We are grateful to have been able to learn from your knowledge and experience.
