Second life of swimming pool water from CSR WUM

The Sports and Rehabilitation Center MUW (CSR WUM) needs to replace pool water with new water once a year. To make sure this "old" one doesn't go to waste, a truck from the City Cleaning Department came to MUW. They have taken water from the pool, so it can be reused.

Caring for the environment is not just about big educational campaigns, but more importantly about our daily choices. - Pool water meets the requirements of drinking water! We should not waste it. Especially in the current hydrological situation - believes Karolina Skinder, Head of the Sports and Rehabilitation Center MUW.

The head of the CSR came up with the idea of reusing water from the pool last year. She and her co-worker, Emilia Sasin, were looking for individuals or companies that might be interested in pumping out the water.

- The fire department came to our mind first. However, the firefighters refused because they have to refuel the trucks depending on the action, so they did not want to make an appointment without knowing the specific needs. Only the City Cleaning Department has shown interest in our water. Last year it collected 404 m3, while this year it collected 96 m3 - says Karolina Skinder.

The action took place on Saturday, July 9. The pumping out of water lasted from 7:30 p.m. to midnight. At the same time, the internal road in the CSR was washed (with our water) free of charge.

It is worth noting that the Sports and Rehabilitation Center MUW was designed and operates in the eco-style. Toilets use rainwater or filter rinse water for flushing. A wastewater heat recovery system is also in operation, as well as a solar and photovoltaic system.
