To help Ukraine. A representative of the Rector of the Medical University of Warsaw at talks in Kiev

The Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences and the Head of the Department of Emergency Medical Services, Prof. Robert Gałązkowski, visited the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. He discussed with the Deputy Minister, Iryna Mykychak, various needs of the Ukrainian health care system in wartime conditions. It has been confirmed that a training program for doctors and paramedics is the most urgent requirement.

Polish specialists will conduct training courses in Ukraine. They will involve battlefield medicine and advanced life-saving treatments. Prof. Gałązkowski has been committed to helping Ukraine since the outbreak of the war. He coordinated the evacuation of Ukrainian children to Poland and on his initiative large amounts of rescue equipment were handed over to the Ukrainian party. As a gesture of gratitude, the authorities of the ministry handed him a diploma with thanks.

The Director of the Polish Air Ambulance Service met Dr. Vitaliy Krylyuk, coordinator of the Ukrainian emergency medical service. They discussed the Ukrainian experience in providing medical assistance on a massive scale in war conditions.

Details of cooperation with the Medical University of Warsaw and possible internships of Ukrainian researchers in Warsaw were determined during talks with the Rector of the Ukrainian National Medical University, Iuri Kuchyn.

After a visit to one of the University’s clinics where wounded soldiers are treated, Prof. Robert Gałązkowski said: “I was very impressed by the dedication of Ukrainian doctors who work tirelessly, the sense of the seriousness of the situation and the national unity. No one here has any doubt that blood spilled in the fight is the foundation of the existence of free Ukraine. Heroes are respected and even revered.”
