Prof. Anna Kostera-Pruszczyk in the Council for Rare Diseases at the Ministry of Health

The Council is an auxiliary body of the Ministry of Health. She was appointed on 26 May this year, and her term of office will last until 31 December 2023. The professor will serve as deputy chairman.

Prof. Anna Kostera-Pruszczyk is Head of the Department and Clinic of Neurology at UCK WUM, a member of the Council of the Center of Excellence for Rare and Undiagnosed Diseases at the Medical University of Warsaw and also Head of the Euro-NMD Center - the Reference Center for Rare Neuromuscular Diseases ERN. Led by the Professor, the Department and Clinic of Neurology at UCK WUM is among the European leaders in the field of neuromuscular diseases. It is the only Polish member of the elite European Reference Network for Rare Diseases ERN EURO-NMD.

The tasks of the newly established Rare Disease Council include initiating and monitoring the substantive implementation of individual stages of the Plan for Rare Diseases; appointing expert teams to implement individual areas of the Plan for Rare Diseases, and coordinating cooperation between The Centres of Expertise on Rare Diseases (OECR).

Prof. Anna Latos-Bieleńska – national consultant in the field of clinical genetics, Head of the Department of Medical Genetics at the Karol Marcinkowski Medical University in Poznań and Chairwoman of the Central Team of the Polish Register of Congenital Developmental Defects – has been appointed Chairman of the Council.
