Successful treatments of transcatheter valve regurgitation using the edge-to-shore method

Specialists from the I Department and Clinic of Cardiology of the Medical University of Warsaw successfully treated three severe cases of isolated trigeminal regurgitation using a new device designed for these procedures.

Treatment of severe tricuspid valve regurgitation in patients at high risk of cardiac surgery is a serious problem for modern cardiology. In 2018, specialists from the I Department and Clinic of Cardiology of the Medical University of Warsaw were the first in Poland to start performing transcatheter treatment of this defect by joining flakes in the area of regurgitation, using the edge-to-shore method.

Currently, our clinic’s team has treated three severe cases of isolated trigeminal regurgitation. A new Edwards Pascal device was used for this type of procedure. All three treatments were successful. The team included operators, Dr. Adam Rdzanek and Dr. Arkadiusz Pietrasik, echo-navigators, Dr. Piotr Scisło and Dr. Agnieszka Kapłon-Cieślicka and anesthesiologists, Dr. Tadeusz Bering and Dr. Renata Andrzejewska. The treatments were performed at the Laboratory of Hemodynamics (Head Prof. Janusz Kochman) and the Department and Clinic of Cardiology of the Medical University of Warsaw (Head Prof. Marcin Grabowski).
