Live surgery. Broadcast from the Clinical Ophthalmology Hospital MUW

Two procedures performed by the specialists from the Independent Public Clinical Ophthalmology Hospital were broadcast live during the national training conference. They were watched by several hundred ophthalmologists - participants of the symposium. Thanks to real-time transmission they could ask questions about the procedure. The surgeons clarified all doubts and gave expert advice.

The first surgery - cataract phacoemulsification with the use of an iris retraction ring - was performed by Prof. Jacek Szaflik, Head of the Chair and Department of Ophthalmology MUW, Director of the SP Clinical Ophthalmology Hospital. Dr Karolina Pielak assisted in the surgery. During the second surgery, performed by Anna Kaminska, MD, PhD, the patient had a cataract removed with simultaneous implantation of an Ex-Press implant. Dr Maria Guszkowska assisted in the surgery.
The whole event was held during the conference "EPE - interdisciplinary aspects of modern medicine in medical theory and practice - Ophthalmology". It is organized by Polpharma as part of the European Educational Program. The aim of the Program is to provide doctors and pharmacists with knowledge on the latest achievements in medicine and pharmacy. Since the beginning of the program, one of the highlights has been live surgeries broadcast from the Independent Public Clinical Ophthalmology Hospital.
