Chess and Mat, our students on the podium of the Polish Academic Chess Championships

3 medals in the individual tournament in the "Medical Universities" category and second place in the team tournament in the "Medical Universities" category - it is the result of the performance of our six-person team at this year's Polish Academic Chess Championships. More than 400 male and female students from 50 national universities entered the competition, which took place in early April in Chorzów. Our University was represented by Klaudia Wiśniowska, Anna Rudnik, Damian Koseski, Maksym Petrushkevich, Michal Polak and Krzysztof Wyszomirski.

In the individual standings on the podium stood: Klaudia Wiśniowska, who won the gold medal, as well as Anna Rudnik and Krzysztof Wyszomirski, who won bronze medals. Our students also took second place in the team standings in the "Medical Universities” category, gaining 10 points, just behind Collegium Medicum UJ with 12 points.
The tournaments within the framework of the Polish Chess Championships  last 3 days and consist of 2 individual tournaments - for women and men - and a team tournament. The tournaments last 9 rounds in a Swiss-system.
