Aid for Ukraine

A meeting with our Ukrainian students was held at our university. They talked about their current situation and the most urgent needs. MUW is also involved in helping the refugees from Ukraine. The Sława and Izek Wołosiański Foundation- Humanosh organizes a collection of the most needed items.

We have 51 students from Ukraine at our university. All of them received an invitation to a meeting in the rector's office. Its aim was to reassure students that they were not alone in these dramatic moments. The university offers them specific assistance according to their current needs. If they soon find themselves short of money to pay for another semester, a dorm room, or simply don't have the means to live, they will be able to count on support. Of course, other forms of assistance are also possible, such as psychological care. Students have been assured that any issue they come up with is important to us.
The Medical University of Warsaw is also involved in helping Ukrainian citizens who are forced to flee their country. We work together with the Sława and Izek Wołosiański Foundation- Humanosh, which has many years of experience in helping refugees and is currently monitoring the situation on the border with Ukraine.
Humanosh is organizing a collection of most needed items.
We are collecting:
•    mattresses for sleeping
•    sleeping bags
•    duvets
•    blankets
•    cushions
•    towels
•    things for children aged 5-10 years
•    Long-term food only, e.g. pasta, rice, canned food
•    personal hygiene products such as toothpaste, new underwear, diapers, including adult diapers
•    paper towels
•    candles
•    batteries and lighters
•    first aid kits
•    thermoses
•    torches
•    non-prescription painkillers and antipyretics
•    bandages
•    disinfectants
These items can be brought to the Didactic Center and Sports and Rehabilitation Centre (from Monday 8am-6pm). They will be gradually given to the Foundation.
Important! It is very important to deliver donations in cardboard boxes with information about what is inside. Please do not seal the cartons and remember that a single package should not be too heavy.
In addition, we would like to ask our academic community for any offers to help Ukrainian families. The biggest problem is the lack of places where refugees can live. If you are able to invite a Ukrainian family to your home or you have a vacant apartment, please contact us urgently at pomocdlaukrainy@wum.edu.pl. Other forms of assistance for refugees can also be reported to this email address. For example, we are looking for volunteers with knowledge of the Ukrainian language to act as interpreters.
