First-year students of the Faculty of Health Sciences joined the MUW community

Our university community has grown by another 1,412 students - on October 8, the matriculation ceremony took place at the Faculty of Health Sciences, during which the students beginning their education at: nursing, midwifery, medical rescue, dietetics and public health, took the solemn oath.

The event traditionally began with the entry of the ceremonial procession accompanied by the Gaude Mater Polonia hymn and singing of the Hymn of the Medical University of Warsaw. All participants were welcomed by Mariusz Gujski, MD, PhD - Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences.

Addressing the students, he wished that the content of the oath would become a real indicator of their attitude during their studies. He emphasized that as future medics, they will have a special role, the essence of which is to help people who are sick, needy and suffering. He also pointed out the correlation between the level of knowledge acquired and the quality of future work on behalf of those in need. Calling for commitment, regularity and treatment of studies with utmost care, he assured that it would give the students satisfaction and ensure respect from their protégés and colleagues.

The Rector of the Medical University of Warsaw, Professor Zbigniew Gaciong, handed special congratulations to those who had the best results in the qualification procedure: Kacper Dutkowski (medical rescue), Zuzanna Karwasińska (first degree obstetrics), Patrycja Piasecka (second degree obstetrics), Viyaletta Kryvitska (first degree nursing), Aleksandra Kamuda (second degree nursing), Zuzanna Kozlowska (first degree dietetics), Katarzyna Malinowska (second degree dietetics), Patrycja Zacharzewska (first degree public health) and Magdalena Kucharska (second degree public health).

The Rector pointed out that they come to a university that attaches great importance to the highest quality of education. He assured that the program they will follow during their studies meets all standards, while the university diploma opens all doors. He also pointed out that the years spent at university are the best time of student's life - not only because of earning a coveted degree, but because of the opportunity for professional development and the chance to participate in student life.

The culminating point of the matriculation ceremony was the oath, which was administered by the Dean.

The inaugural lecture entitled "Disinformation, how to communicate about medical issues" was delivered by Prof. Dariusz Jemielniak - a correspondent member of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Head of the Management in Networked and Digital Societies at Kozminski University.

The Choir of the Medical University of Warsaw provided the musical setting for the ceremony.

The ceremony was attended by: Prof. Marek Kuch – Vice Rector for Student Affairs and Education, Prof. Aleksandra Banaszkiewicz – Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Joanna Kolmas, MD, PhD – Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Dariusz Białoszewski, MD, PhD, MUW professor – Dean of the Faculty of Medical Sciences, Ewa Czochrowska, MD, PhD – Vice Dean of the Faculty of Dental Medicine and Prof. Bolesław Samoliński - Chairman of the Health Sciences Discipline Council.
