Scientists from MUW with the Scientific Award of the Polish Cardiac Society

A team of scientists from the 1st Chair and Department of Cardiology of the UCC MUW received the 2020 Scientific Award from the Polish Cardiac Society. Our specialists have been recognized for a series of papers entitled "Clinical characteristics, prognostic factors and treatment of Polish patients with heart failure," published in international journals. When evaluating the publications, the PCS Awards Committee took into account their level and scientific value.

The papers awarded by the Polish Cardiac Society (PTK) concern factors important for prognosis of heart failure, e.g. anemia, hyponatremia, the significance of drugs used in this disease, and heart failure caused by myocarditis, also in the course of COVID-19. The researchers also undertook to characterize Polish patients with heart failure, including elderly patients and patients with concomitant atrial fibrillation.
 
The laureates: Paweł Balsam, MD, PhD, Prof. Marcin Grabowski, Prof. Grzegorz Opolski Prof. Krzysztof J. Filipiak, Prof. Jarosław Drożdż (Medical University of Lodz) Agnieszka Kapłon-Cieślicka, MD, PhD, Dr. Michał Marchel, Dr. Krzysztof Ozierański, Dr. Michał Peller, Agata Tymińska, MD, were awarded during the XXV International Congress of the Polish Cardiac Society held on 22.09-02.10.2021.
