The Transfer of Authority Ceremony at the Medical University of Warsaw

On August 31, 2020, Prof. Mirosław Wielgoś, Rector (2016-2020) presented his successor, Prof. Zbigniew Gaciong, with the rector’s insignia (a chain, scepter and ring).  The transfer of authority ceremony took place in the University’s Senate room to mark the beginning of the new Rector’s 4-year term starting September 1, 2020.

Joining the new Rector are Vice Rectors:
- Prof. Agnieszka Cudnoch-Jędrzejewska - Vice Rector for Human Resources,
- Prof. Paweł Włodarski - Vice Rector for International Relations, Development and Promotion,
- Prof. Marek Kuch - Vice Rector for Student Affairs and Education,
- Prof. Piotr Pruszczyk - Vice Rector for Science and Technology Transfer,
- Prof. Wojciech Lisik - Vice Rector for Clinical Affairs and Investments.

In his farewell speech, Prof. Wielgoś thanked the Vice-Rectors and Deans who served with him during his 2016-2020 term. He also thanked the University’s Chancellor and Vice-Chancellors, the University’s administration, academic teachers, doctoral students and the student body for their support and, above all, for their hard work, joint efforts and commitment to the Medical University of Warsaw.

Next, the new Rector, Prof. Zbigniew Gaciong addressed his audience which included outgoing vice-rectors: Prof. Barbara Górnicka, Prof. Jadwiga Turło, Prof. Lidia Rudnicka, Prof. Wojciech Braksator, Prof. Krzysztof J. Filipiak, Prof. Piotr Małkowski, and Prof. Andrzej Deptała.

In his speech, the new Rector thanked Prof. Mirosław Wielgoś and the outgoing authorities for their work then presented his plans for the 2020-2024 term as the Rector of the Medical University of Warsaw.
